For the majority of my career I have acted as an IT Manager either through Project Management roles or Support Management roles. Seeing individuals who work for me progress and grow alongside improving processes is what really makes me enjoy my work along with the fact that no two days are ever the same. I have worked for the last 28 years in an IT environment having worked 12 years for Whitbread PLC and now a further 17 years for the RSPB. I started working for Whitbread straight after completing my MA at Exeter University and spent 2 years working as an Assistant Manager and then a trainer before making the move to IT. In my role as Head of Technology Services at the RSPB I have responsibility for the Service Desk, Technical Operations (Infrastructure and Apps), Quality Assurance (testing) and Supplier Management.
