Celebrating Diversity and Women in Tech: Why Recognition Matters

Back Celebrating Diversity and Women in Tech: Why Recognition Matters

As someone who is deeply committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in the tech sector, I feel incredibly honoured to be shortlisted for the Women and Diversity in Channel Awards. It’s a recognition that not only acknowledges personal achievements but also highlights a cause that is crucial to our industry's future: the importance of diversity, especially in a sector where women remain underrepresented.

At first glance, awards focused on a single gender or group can evoke a sense of unease. After all, the very existence of such awards is a testament to the inequity and inequality that still exist in our professional environments. But, paradoxically, this is precisely why these awards matter so much. They shine a spotlight on the barriers women face and the importance of creating inclusive spaces. This recognition acts as a reminder that there is still much work to be done, and these awards celebrate not just individual success, but the collective progress toward a more equitable future.

In a male-dominated industry like technology, it’s all too easy for women’s accomplishments to go unnoticed. That’s why platforms like the Women and Diversity in Channel Awards play such a vital role—they bring attention to the trailblazers, the mentors, and the women who are quietly yet powerfully shaping the future of tech. These awards celebrate those who, through their work, are shifting the needle and paving the way for the next generation of women.

Recognition like this signals that gender equality and diversity are not just buzzwords—they are priorities. They serve as an important reminder of the challenges women face in tech, from the gender pay gap to the lack of female representation in leadership. More importantly, they push industries to focus on creating environments where everyone, regardless of gender or background, can thrive.

At Sage, we strongly believe in breaking down barriers so that everyone can succeed. Being shortlisted for this award is a testament to our commitment to diversity and inclusivity, acknowledging that we take this mission seriously in everything we do.

Recently, a member of our leadership team called our partner marketing group a “global powerhouse,” and I couldn’t agree more. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, and each day, I’m reminded of how crucial it is to keep driving this momentum forward.

These awards, while recognizing individual success, are truly about celebrating collective progress. They acknowledge the importance of diversity in shaping the future of the tech industry and beyond. For me, winning would be more than personal recognition—it would signal that we, as a team and as a company, are on the right path toward creating a future where everyone can thrive.
